Cleaning & Decontamination Guidelines

At STATPACKS, we understand that most departments already follow established SOPs for cleaning and decontamination. While those procedures should always take precedence, we want to provide clear guidance and reassurance based on how our products are built and tested.

A Note on Cleaning & Warranty

These are extraordinary times, and access to preferred cleaning agents or ideal conditions isn’t always possible. We’ve received many questions about whether certain chemicals or cleaning methods void the STATPACKS warranty.

They do not.

If a cleaning method or chemical causes cosmetic wear—such as discoloration or surface degradation—we will work with you to find a solution. Even if the exterior finish is affected, the protective integrity of the pack remains intact.

Important Considerations

  • Always follow your department’s SOPs above any manufacturer recommendations
  • Disinfecting wipes and solutions may sanitize, but they do not remove dirt, debris, or biological material
  • Some chemicals (including bleach-based solutions) may discolor fabrics
  • Spot-test any cleaning agent in an inconspicuous area before full application

Preparation

Before cleaning or decontamination:

  • Wear appropriate PPE (gloves, mask, eye protection)
  • Remove all contents from the pack
  • Remove any detachable components:
    • Dividers
    • Pouches
    • Modules
    • Accessories

Cleaning

  1. Using warm, soapy water, scrub all affected areas thoroughly
    • Zipper chains
    • Straps and webbing
    • Buckles
    • Interior and exterior surfaces
  2. Rinse or wipe away soap and residue
  3. Allow the pack to air-dry completely in a well-ventilated area
Do not machine wash or machine dry.

Decontamination

Step 1:

Apply a department-approved disinfectant or decontamination solution to all surfaces

Step 2:

Allow the solution to sit for a minimum of three minutes

Step 3:

Wipe away any residue

Step 4:

Allow the pack to fully air-dry in a well-ventilated area
